About The Position

The Doctor's Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting optometrists by ensuring a world-class Total Patient Experience. This position involves a variety of tasks, including operating optical equipment for initial patient testing and providing excellent customer service to patients of all ages. The role requires a commitment to professionalism and adherence to company policies, including HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous medical office experience preferred; optometric experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a customer/patient interaction role or equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional appearance and actions with logical and critical thinking skills.
  • Customer-focused with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Interpersonal skills to support customer service and teamwork.
  • Basic to intermediate problem-solving skills, including mathematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Embrace and execute the Total Patient Experience to build relationships with patients while delivering medical support.
  • Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly, and thank them upon departure.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
  • Practice urgency, valuing both patient and doctor's time.
  • Operate various optical testing equipment such as lensometers and autorefractors.
  • Follow scripting for testing equipment and clean all examination equipment.
  • Set phoropter to patient RX or reset to plano as per doctor's request.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with all levels of employees.
  • Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned by the manager.
  • Demonstrate initiative in achieving practice goals and creating a positive work environment.
  • Commit to flexible working hours, including weekends and schedule changes.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures while supporting high-quality customer service.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the organization.
