Doctoral Externship/Advanced Therapy Practicum
About The Position
Student Counseling Services (SCS) offers a 10-month Externship/Advanced Therapy Practicum beginning August 1, 2026, and ending on May 31, 2027. Our focus is to provide a strong clinical experience for our externs that integrates the development of clinical competence and ethical practice with professional growth and development in a supportive environment. Externs will be exposed to a full range of clinical services, therapeutic perspectives, and interdisciplinary skills within a University Counseling Center. While clients we serve may request to engage in services via telehealth, externs will only provide telehealth services while working on-site, as interns will not be able to provide clinical services while off-site. Additional Information Applicants are carefully selected based on their prior clinical experience, strong recommendations from their home program and/or previous practicum supervisors, and an in-person interview with the dedicated staff at Student Counseling Services. This thorough process ensures a collaborative and enriching training experience tailored to support each extern’s growth and success.
Requirements
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. or Psy.D. program in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
- Successful completion of at least one doctoral-level therapy practicum prior to the start date.
