The position involves conducting diagnostic evaluations to assess hearing and balance disorders. The audiologist will perform comprehensive audiological assessments, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, and immittance testing, as well as comprehensive balance assessments (VNG) and auditory brainstem response testing. The role requires interpreting test results and providing appropriate recommendations for treatment or further evaluation. Additionally, the audiologist will fit and dispense hearing aids, assistive listening devices, and other amplification systems, while also providing counseling and education to patients and their families regarding hearing loss, communication strategies, and hearing conservation. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans is essential, along with staying up-to-date with advancements in audiology research and technology. The audiologist will also perform cerumen removal via curette, suction, and irrigation.
