About The Position

On Time Trucking, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced dockman/switcher to support the seamless flow of day shift operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to transport materials efficiently. Additionally, this role includes coordinating with machine operators for the safe loading and unloading of goods onto and off trucks and loading docks. The ideal candidate would be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within the yard or terminal. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized inventory, loading areas, and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or material handling preferred.
  • 1-3 years minimum material handling experience
  • 3 years minimum Yard Jockey/Switcher experience
  • High school diploma a plus but not required
  • Ability to operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • 1-3 years minimum forklift loading / unloading experience with previous certification a plus but not required.
  • Willingness to be certified for forklift, hazmat training, and other certifications.
  • Strong ability to verify part numbers, match shipments to orders, and conduct inventory counts accurately.
  • Customer and Quality focused.
  • LEAN understanding with ability to fully execute 5S and 6S
  • Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean & safe work environment
  • Ability to lift, move, and stack materials weighing up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Assertive, able to meet high volume and demand.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, or reach with hands and arms, climb ladders, kneel, crouch
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication and coordination with team members.
  • Take ownership of assigned task and complete in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate ability to interact well with others and follow instructions
  • Cross-train as needed to learn other warehouse functions
  • Ability to identify and report issues related to inventory discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or shipping errors.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently in a fastpaced environment.
  • Adherence to all OTT Safety, Quality, ISO and HR policies and standards

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and electric pallet jacks to transport materials and freight within the warehouse.
  • Assist with two-man lifts and yard jobs as required.
  • Safely unload inbound shipments, ensuring proper handling of all merchandise and materials.
  • Accurately load outbound shipments, ensuring all items are properly secured for transport.
  • Receive, unpack, inspect, and verify incoming merchandise against packing lists or purchase orders.
  • Document and report any discrepancies, including receiving exceptions, damages, or shortages.
  • Conduct stock checks, part number verifications, and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Support physical inventory counts and audits as required.
  • Consolidate loads as needed to optimize storage and shipment efficiency.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare parts for order fulfillment, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Label, repack, and wrap products for secure and damage-free shipping.
  • Consolidate partial pallets into full pallets for optimized storage and inventory management.
  • Strap pallets and boxes securely to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Stage completed orders in designated staging areas for final inspection and shipping.
  • Verify all outbound shipments are accompanied by the correct documentation, including revised Bills of Lading (BOL), packing slips, and manual tags.
  • Maintain clear and open communication with warehouse leads and supervisors regarding any OSD (Overages, Shortages, and Damages) found during picking, receiving, or shipping.
  • Follow all company safety guidelines, ensuring a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving discrepancies related to inventory and shipments.
  • Safely move trailers around the yard or place them on door for loading and unloading.
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions while moving trailers in the yard.
  • Follows all safety procedures and DOT regulations.
  • Other Duties as assigned
