About The Position

The Campus Planning & Operations department is responsible for the fourteen Institution owned docks. Only the Central Dock is staffed, where limited marina services like vessel fuel and mooring are available. The Central Dock is also an access gateway to the grounds; a gate pass is required. Operational every day during the nine-week summer assembly season, the Central Dock hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00. About Your Compensation Compensation for this position starts at $16.00/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $17.00/Hour. About Your Work Day Provide friendly and professional customer service to contribute toward an exceptional guest experience. Work as gas dock attendant fueling vessels. following proper fueling procedures. Scan the gate pass as patrons enter/exit the Central Dock; assist patrons when the gate pass scans invalid. Sell admission gate pass. Operate a computerized cash register to compute sale prices, process cash or credit payment and provide customer with proper sales receipt and change. Perform daily opening and closing job duties. Follows department safety and maintenance practices. Light maintenance including buoy tendering, dock-area grounds and equipment as needed. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $500 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August. About Your Schedule Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability. Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement. While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position: Typically, will work a four or eight-hour shift with a start time that varies between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., for a total of 35 hours per week. Must be able to work one weekend shift each week.
