The Docket Clerk at Mayer Brown LLP plays a crucial role in providing professional docket support services to lawyers and staff across multiple offices. This position involves managing deadlines, filing legal documents, conducting research, and coordinating with vendors to ensure efficient operations within the Docket department. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and demonstrate exceptional client service and organizational skills.

  • Computes deadlines and calendars events using the CompuLaw Vision Docket System.
  • Files legal documents with courts and administrative agencies both electronically and in paper form.
  • Conducts general research regarding court rules and procedures.
  • Performs case-related research at court and online, retrieving court documents.
  • Executes queries and prepares reports to assist attorneys in responding to auditor's requests.
  • Coordinates activities by vendors that provide clerical support to the Firm.
  • Prepares and distributes reports regarding case action dates, hearings, deadlines, etc.
  • Monitors case activities and updates the central docket application accordingly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of docket experience, preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Keyboarding skills of 50+ WPM, preferred.
  • Experience with Internet research, preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with public record systems such as PACER, Courtlink, Bloomberg, CourtExpress & CourtAlert, preferred.
  • Proficiency with rules-based calendaring software, preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic court filing, preferred.
  • Certified Notary Public, preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with CompuLaw Vision Docket System, preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
