About The Position

As a team member in Cross dock Operations, you will be a part of Carter Express’ competitive and lively work environment. The Dock Support Lead will be a role model and demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others. This position will play a vital role in the manufacturing of popular brands of vehicles seen on the road today. This position requires attention to detail, and the ability to perform in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. Attention to safety and 5S standards are trained and required. Necessary processes to complete job are trained.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Highly motivated, energetic, and capable of addressing issues with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to report and recommend solutions to challenges.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in computer software (MS Word and Excel, especially)
  • Attention to detail.

  • Proficient with Microsoft office and preferred experience with a warehouse management or transportation management systems.
  • There is a high emphasis on travel for this position. The position will require travel to other docks in a time of need. This position is expected to support the local operation but be available to be pulled in the event of an emergency.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year preferred experience in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain or warehousing.
  • One (1) year of leadership experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard warehouse and DOT policy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee team of 5-7 hourly dock team members.
  • Support dock supervisor with daily tasks
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and productive work environment.
  • Fosters a proactive, participative, cooperative work environment that works in conjunction with all other departments, shifts, and areas within the organization to maximize productivity and performance.
  • Monitor, manage and promote proper safety, cleanliness, organization of equipment, workplace, and tools.
  • This position will support other locations in time of need. Travel is required.
  • Performs all other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the Cross Dock operation.
