About The Position

The Dock Supervisor is responsible for overseeing dock operations, guiding and directing dock employees, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. This role involves managing dock planning, scheduling, and performance monitoring to maintain an efficient and safe LTL operation. The Dock Supervisor will also be involved in hiring and termination processes, as well as ensuring effective communication with customers and proper handling of dock paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry and basic paperwork flow.
  • Prior management, dispatch, and dock experience in the LTL trucking industry required.
  • Knowledge of the local metropolitan area is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring, and terminating employees.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Good computer skills, including AS/400 and MS Office.
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work an average of 50 hours per week, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, and direct dock employees, setting targets and monitoring performance.
  • Manage dock operations to ensure efficiency, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Enforce compliance with company policies, safety rules, and government regulations.
  • Participate in hiring and termination processes as needed.
  • Administer assigned portions of the Terminal Business plan as set by the Terminal Manager.
  • Meet all assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Utilize company enhancement tools and processes daily.
  • Review and revise schedules to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate equipment assignment and movement with other supervisors and management.
  • Ensure timely and correct handling of all dock paperwork by employees.
