About The Position
As a Dock Supervisor, you will report directly to the Operations Manager or Assistant Terminal Manager and/or Terminal Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to lead, guide, and direct dock employees, ensuring that targets are set, performance is monitored, and coaching, counseling, and development are provided as needed. You will be accountable for managing an efficient, clean, and safe Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) operation, which includes dock planning and setting up schedules. It is essential to enforce understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations. In this role, you will be involved in the hiring and termination processes, making recommendations as necessary. You will administer and carry out assigned portions of the Terminal Business plan as set forth by the Terminal Manager, ensuring that all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) assigned are met. Daily utilization of all company enhancement tools and processes will be required, along with reviewing and revising schedules to increase efficiencies and lower costs. You will also be responsible for equipment assignment and movement, collaborating with other supervisors and management. Effective communication with customers via phone, fax, or email is crucial, as is overseeing all paperwork associated with the dock to ensure it is handled timely and correctly by employees. Regular attendance is required, and while this is not an all-inclusive list of job requirements, it highlights the essential functions and responsibilities expected of you in this role. Operational, safety, and other needs may require you to perform any and all other duties as assigned, and you must be able to perform all such duties and tasks.
