About The Position

The Dock Master at Coral Ridge Yacht Club is responsible for overseeing all operations at the marina, ensuring quality service and effective management of marina activities. This role involves long and short-term planning, customer service, facility upkeep, and emergency management, all while fostering a positive environment for both members and staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years' marine experience required, preferably in a private club, hotel, or resort setting.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of general boat handling of large vessels over 30' required.
  • Current CPR Certification required or ability to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and database programs required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Polished, professional appearance and presentation required.
  • Ability to manage stress and time effectively required.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain employee teams required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations required.
  • Ability to work a varying schedule based on the Club's needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily business operations at the marina.
  • Oversee all marina operations and provide quality service.
  • Maintain and schedule rentals of pontoon boats, ensuring renters are trained in operation.
  • Administer seasonal boater contracts and maintain wait and change lists for seasonal docks.
  • Prepare monthly reports to the FL DEP in accordance with state laws and regulations.
  • Administer vending contracts related to marina operations.
  • Prepare budgetary requests for the marina in conjunction with the Fleet Captain.
  • Plan and maintain marina staffing for safe and efficient operations.
  • Develop good personal relations with neighboring residents regarding marina policies.
  • Promote boating interest through tournaments and special events.
  • Maximize slip rental occupancy and ensure effective utilization of rental space.
  • Maintain grounds, equipment, and docks to meet aesthetic and operational standards.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Maintain supply inventories for maintenance and cleaning supplies.
  • Assist in marina store duties including opening and closing store and inventory assistance.
  • Know and implement hurricane, storm, fire, first aid, and hazardous spill procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and remain adaptable to member and management needs.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all members according to Club standards.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager for necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Create a positive and rewarding work environment for staff.
  • Assist in training new employees and suggest updates to the training program.
  • Collaborate with HR to coach and counsel employees as needed.
  • Provide feedback for annual reviews of staff with measurable goals and timelines.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place.
