About The Position

A food Service Dock Hand is responsible for quality checks on pallets picked by selectors. Assisting in organizing the dock to help elevate pressure on the Loader, not having to search for pallets. Wrapping dropped pallets of product so that they're secure when being loaded onto their assigned truck. This job is crucial in ensuring that food products are handled and transported safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the foodservice distribution process.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have very strong urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines.
  • Requires the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • Ability to complete tasks under standardized situations with occasional variables.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and position: up to 20 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to constantly bend, reach above shoulder, grasp objects, climb, kneel, squat, twist and stand throughout shift.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 150 lbs. occasionally
  • Confident and comfortable operating equipment at heights up to 30 feet
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls.

Responsibilities

  • Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers with food and foodservice products using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual labor.
  • Quality Control: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure accuracy and quality of products, reporting any discrepancies or damages.
  • Safety Compliance Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for equipment operation, lifting, and handling of products to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Order Picking: Fulfill customer orders by selecting and preparing the correct products for delivery, making sure they are properly labeled and staged for shipment.
  • Warehouse Organization Keep the warehouse and dock area clean and organized, ensuring that products are stored in designated locations.
  • Communication: Collaborate with drivers, supervisors, and other team members to coordinate the efficient flow of products in and out of the facility.
  • Safety Meetings Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on safety procedures and best practices.
  • Compliance: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including food safety regulations.
  • Physical Stamina Be physically fit and able to lift heavy objects, as the job may require significant manual labor.
  • Flexibility Be prepared to work in various weather conditions and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
