About The Position

The Business Administrator position at the Illinois Department of Corrections involves overseeing a large subordinate staff within the business office, managing fiscal operations for a multi-million-dollar organization while ensuring compliance with security protocols and applicable standards. This role requires strong leadership and administrative skills to implement and direct accounting and purchasing functions effectively.

Requirements

  • Completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in fiscal operations for a public or business organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience performing full range of fiscal functions within a large organization.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience utilizing automated financial systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, Economics or Accounting.
  • Three (3) years of experience managing a multi-million-dollar budget.
  • Three (3) years of experience with contract establishment and procurement processes.
  • Two (2) years of experience in property control and inventory management.
  • Six (6) months of experience with BidBuy or other procurement software.
  • Experience interpreting collective bargaining contracts and supervising union covered employees.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Business Administrator and full-line supervisor.
  • Administer, implement, and direct accounting functions.
  • Administer, implement, and monitor purchasing functions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
