About The Position

The Office Coordinator position at the Illinois Department of Corrections involves providing technical office support within the record office staff at the Illinois River Correctional Center. Requirements

  • Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college or completion of high school with two years of related office experience.
  • Ability to keyboard accurately at least 30 words per minute.

  • At least two years of work experience utilizing software and databases to gather and retrieve information.
  • At least two years of work experience gathering information for report preparation.
  • At least two years of work experience proofreading documents for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • At least one year of work experience using and/or interpreting legal terminology.
  • At least one year of work experience preparing and maintaining confidential files.
  • At least one year of work experience responding to written and verbal inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical office support functions including the review of incoming master files and verifying accuracy of data.
  • Assist with calculating sentences and maintaining communication with multiple departments.
  • Regulate, monitor, and process information and documents regarding sentence calculations under direction.
  • Monitor the Individual in Custody Tracking System for accurate data entry regarding time awards and release dates.
  • Organize and maintain files related to educational good conduct credits and earned good conduct credits.
  • Keyboards a variety of correspondence, reports, or other information from handwritten hard copy.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
