About The Position

The DOC Correctional Officer I position at the Arkansas Department of Community Correction is responsible for maintaining security and overseeing the conduct of inmates within a correctional facility. Requirements

• Formal education equivalent to a high school diploma.
• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Understanding of human behavior and appropriate responses.
• Ability to monitor inmate activities and write detailed reports.
• Capability to conduct security checks of buildings and grounds.
• Skills in conducting investigations and exercising self-defense tactics.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the security and conduct of inmates in various settings including cells, group meetings, and during meals.
• Maintains perimeter security by monitoring for escapees and disturbances from a tower.
• Logs in visitors at the front gate to ensure security protocols are followed.
• Performs security checks of the facility, including shakedowns and strip searches of inmates.
• Maintains logs for work release inmates and writes incident reports for rule violations.
• Escorts inmates to visitations, court, and work assignments as necessary.
• Attends shift briefings to discuss incidents and security concerns.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Anticipated starting salary of $36,155.00 with a salary range of $36,155.00 - $57,668.00.
