DMV Customer Service Representative - Waukesha (Pewaukee)

About the position

This DMV Customer Service Representative position is located at the Waukesha Area Customer Service Center and provides face-to-face customer support on driver licensing and vehicle registration. This includes issuing driver's licenses, ID cards, instruction permits, motor vehicle registrations, vehicle titles, and license plates. This position determines and collects appropriate fees from customers. This position also works with customers who need to obtain an ID for voting purposes. In addition to in-person work, this position does some online processing of other types of work and may field questions from the public over the phone.

Responsibilities

• Provide face-to-face customer support on driver licensing and vehicle registration.
• Issue driver's licenses, ID cards, instruction permits, motor vehicle registrations, vehicle titles, and license plates.
• Determine and collect appropriate fees from customers.
• Assist customers in obtaining IDs for voting purposes.
• Process online transactions and field questions from the public over the phone.

Requirements

• Experience identifying and resolving problems for customers in a face-to-face customer service role.
• Ability to read and interpret laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or other complex documents.
• Experience using computers and software programs to complete customer transactions.

Benefits

• Starting pay is $21.66/hour, with $1.40/hr increase after one year of satisfactory performance.
• Reclassification to the Advanced level typically after 18 months of service, with a pay of at least $25.32/hr.
• Additional $0.80/hr for all Saturday hours worked.
• 12-month probationary period required.
