About The Position

TOPS SCADA Provide complex technical support and training for computer Energy Management (EMS) Systems or Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other technical infrastructure used in Transmission Operations centers. Position requires a high degree of adaptability, and a focus on meeting customer needs and continuous improvement in the systems supported. Protection and Control SCADA Provides complex technical support to Protection and Control Engineering (PCE) SCADA Standards and Production activities related to AEP Transmission. Assist in areas of standards development, scoping, RTU setting creation, and implementation troubleshooting. A high ability to organize and coordinate customer needs will be required.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related technical field or higher from an accredited college/university Or high school diploma and two years related military or electric utility technical experience.
  • Six (6) years EMS/SCADA experience with associate’s degree Or eight (8) years of experience with a high school diploma.
  • Individuals with a bachelor’s degree and 4 years of EMS/SCADA experience may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
  • detailed knowledge is required in three other pertinent areas below: Application development, Operating System support, Computer system administration, Database technologies and support

Responsibilities

  • Perform Point-to-Point commissioning of Distribution Remote Terminal Units (DRTUs) in the D-SCADA system.
  • Troubleshoot database issues and provide support for System Operators and/or field personnel to maintain reliable operation of the D-SCADA system.
  • Complete assigned D-SCADA testing tasks with limited supervision which includes but is not limited to accurately tracking testing results.
  • Provide support/guidance or assist in providing support to less qualified Analysts on problem resolution.
  • Train lower-level Analysts in specific equipment and software support activities when applicable.
  • Maintain reliable operations of the D-SCADA systems and improve or make recommendations to improve the quality and reliability of D-SCADA data and related services.
  • Able to identify issues with processes and tools and provide possible solutions and provide input to more seasoned personnel.
  • Assists higher level team members with overall D-SCADA compliance items.
