The DME Technician position involves receiving daily routes and assignments, preparing the truck for delivery by scanning and pulling stock, and staging equipment for delivery based on the order of the route. The technician is responsible for loading equipment onto the truck following safety standards and standard operating procedures. The technician participates in daily assessments and verifications of the truck, equipment, and supplies, confirming basic safety operations. They follow the daily route to accomplish timely delivery of requested hospice equipment, which includes notifying patients or caregivers of estimated delivery times, unloading, and setting up authorized equipment to ensure it is fully functional. The technician also performs safety assessments of patient environments and maintains continuous communication with the Customer Service and Dispatch team to relay changes in order status or non-compliance with prescribed orders. In addition to deliveries, the technician is responsible for picking up and exchanging durable medical equipment, using company scanning systems to track equipment, and ensuring compliance with the Department of Transportation. The role requires responding to emergency calls and new patient orders during regular business hours and on-call rotation. The technician must also complete and maintain driver logs and vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with regulations. The position involves a significant amount of local travel and requires the ability to handle and transport various types of medical equipment safely and efficiently.
