About The Position

Position Summary South Carolina Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Cetner is seeking a dependable and patient-focused Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator / Cast Technician to join our busy orthopedic surgical practice. This role is essential to providing high-quality orthopedic care by ensuring proper fitting, application, education, and coordination of orthopedic devices and casting services. Key Responsibilities Fit, apply, and remove orthopedic casts, splints, braces, and other DME according to physician orders Educate patients on proper use, care, and maintenance of DME Coordinate DME inventory, ordering, stocking, and documentation Ensure accurate billing, coding, and compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements Maintain casting and DME areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and administrative teams to support patient care Document patient interactions and DME dispensed in the electronic medical record Provide excellent customer service to patients and families

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient positioning as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an Orthopedic Technologist (OTC/OT-SC) or Cast Technician preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Prior experience in orthopedics, casting, or DME coordination preferred
  • Knowledge of orthopedic procedures, braces, and casting materials a plus

Responsibilities
