The DME Coordinator is responsible for the on-site management of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Program at Resurgens Orthopaedics. This role involves providing education and proper fitting of orthopaedic DME products to patients, ensuring compliance with billing procedures, and delivering exceptional customer service. The coordinator will also assist in training clinical staff and managing inventory, while adhering to healthcare regulations and operational standards.

  • Provide on-site management of the DME Program under physician supervision.
  • Fit and educate patients on the use and care of DME products.
  • Gather necessary paperwork for billing and collect payments at the time of service.
  • Assist in educating clinical employees about the DME Program.
  • Meet performance goals set by Resurgens Orthopaedics.
  • Document and reconcile inventory and monthly billings.
  • Utilize inventory management software for operational tasks.
  • Obtain and track pre-authorizations and communicate status with patients and providers.
  • Conduct monthly inventory counts and report discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain a clinic-specific Operations Manual for the DME Program.
  • Schedule patient appointments for DME services and follow-ups.
  • Participate in training of new clinical employees.
  • Comply with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Kinesiology, or Exercise Sciences preferred.
  • High School diploma required.
  • NATABOC Athletic Trainer, Certified Orthotic Fitter, or comparable certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of work experience in a related clinical position preferred.
  • Experience with DME product application to patients preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance authorization and verification processes.
  • Experience with inventory management and EMR software.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Medical knowledge in anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral forms.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience interacting with vendor sales representatives.
