About The Position

The DJJ Operations Coordinator is responsible for monitoring state-operated and contracted provider facilities/services within the Department of Juvenile Justice. This role involves conducting site visits, ensuring compliance with regulations, providing technical assistance, and preparing reports. The coordinator acts as a liaison between various programs and departments, facilitating effective communication and oversight of juvenile justice operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of applicable state regulations and region procedures.
  • Knowledge of case conference procedures and JJIS.
  • Ability to coordinate tasks with other agencies and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and design performance strategies.
  • Proficiency in software applications supported by the Department, including JJIS, RSMS, CCC, and Microsoft Office.
  • A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 years of experience working with the juvenile justice system in various capacities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors state-operated and contracted provider facilities/services.
  • Conducts site visits to ensure integrity and compliance with Florida Statutes and departmental policies.
  • Observes, evaluates, and assesses program effectiveness, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Reviews program/facility reports for trend analysis and provides coaching assistance.
  • Provides ongoing technical assistance and guidance to providers on policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a liaison between programs and various branches of the department.
  • Prepares written reports following monitoring activities.
  • Maintains regular telephone contacts with programs for effective information sharing.
  • Performs pre- and post-operational reviews for new programs.
  • Participates in special team monitoring as needed.
  • Develops monitoring plans for contracts and/or facilities.
  • Advises administrative and programmatic staff of potential problems.
  • Responds to inquiries and complaints on behalf of headquarters and regional office.
  • Conducts inquiries into incidents and issues in programs as assigned.
  • Prepares reports and recommendations for corrective action and monitors implementation.
  • Coordinates and participates in meetings, committees, and training events as requested.
  • Conducts multi-disciplinary case conferences and placement planning for youth.
  • Ensures compliance with state regulations regarding case conferences and placement planning.
  • Utilizes JJIS to assess program performances and develop management strategies.
  • Coordinates activities to reduce the number of committed youth awaiting placement.
  • Trains and provides technical assistance to other staff regarding commitment and placement planning.
