About The Position

The Divisional Purchasing Manager serves as the strategic leader of assigned product departments, responsible for championing the portfolio, managing and nurturing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, building sales and marketing programs, ensuring product availability, and maintaining and improving profitability. With minimal direction, this role consistently drives results, ensures smooth day-to-day operations, proactively resolves challenges, and fosters long-term business growth. The Divisional Purchasing Manager oversees a team of purchasing professionals who manage core daily buying responsibilities at the brand level.

Requirements

  • Automotive aftermarket product knowledge required, with a strong emphasis on Truck and Jeep segments.
  • Strategic and analytical problem-solving skills with strong business acumen and financial literacy.
  • Proven ability to develop, manage, and strengthen vendor partnerships.
  • Strong time management skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills for organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain practices and principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to represent Turn 14 Distribution with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a buying, category management, or similar role required.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support vendor relationships and attend industry events.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain full accountability for brand and category success, driving revenue growth and profitability through strong internal advocacy and collaboration with sales and marketing.
  • Build and maintain productive vendor relationships through phone, email, and in-person meetings; travel to vendor locations and host vendor visits and tours as needed.
  • Monitor and manage business terms including pricing structures, incentives, freight, and payment terms.
  • Aggressively manage gross margin performance while proactively seeking program improvements and defending against negative program changes.
  • Understand the importance of MAP and Authorized Dealer programs and their influence on purchasing decisions and sales performance.
  • Review sales, margin, and product trends on a monthly and quarterly basis to identify drivers, opportunities, and potential risks before issues arise.
  • Innovate promotional opportunities by leveraging existing Turn 14 Distribution programs in alignment with organizational goals and vendor priorities.
  • Pursue exclusive Turn 14 promotional opportunities.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing on creative solutions to achieve market differentiation.
  • Seed recurring sales initiatives with compelling promotions, including monthly sales flyers, new product features, brand launches, and growth initiatives.
  • Advocate for category expansion and improvement in partnership with Business Development leadership.
  • Support the successful launch of new products through accurate asset entry and coordinated promotional efforts.
  • Stay current on product trends, competitive activity, and industry developments to ensure Turn 14 Distribution remains a market leader.
  • Represent Turn 14 Distribution at industry events and vendor locations as appropriate.
  • Perform routine purchasing maintenance activities to ensure inventory is properly positioned to support sales demand.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Turn 14 Distribution purchasing systems and related tools.
  • Support accounting and warehouse teams by resolving discrepancies related to purchase orders, goods receipts, and barcoding.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of purchasing professionals in support of divisional and category success.
  • Provide comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training.
  • Thoughtfully develop both technical and professional skill sets within the team.
  • Delegate responsibilities as team members grow and advance.
  • Offer real-time guidance, coaching, and support.
  • Cultivate a strategic, category-management mindset across the team.
