About The Position

The Director of Gift Planning (“DGP”) leads, develops, implements, and coordinates all phases of the Gift Planning Program within their assigned Divisional coverage area to achieve the goals set for identifying and establishing gift commitments. A DGP is responsible for identifying, cultivating, finalizing, and stewarding gift plan commitments. This will be achieved through management, marketing, metrics, and training activities.

Requirements

  • A strong desire to help others (donors) in achieving their financial and legacy goals.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, finance, or related field.
  • Proven ability to assist donors in moving forward with closing gift plans at the six and seven figure level.
  • Ability to simplify complicated concepts in writing and verbally.
  • Comfortable with technical conversations involving financial or legal concepts.
  • Ability to develop creative options to present to an audience – provide choices.
  • Possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Self-motivated, articulate, people & goal oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining poise under pressure.
  • Ability to work as a team member or independently as needed.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Presents oneself in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in relation to information and documentation.

  • Ability to travel for training, conferences, and donor face-to-face visits.

  • An advanced degree or certification such as, Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”), MBA, JD, CPA or CSPG.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, develops, implements, and coordinates all phases of the Gift Planning Program within their assigned Divisional coverage area to achieve the goals set for identifying and establishing gift commitments.
  • Identifies, cultivates, finalizes, and stewards gift plan commitments.
  • Manages all gift planning activities within their assigned coverage area.
  • Maintains and builds relationships with all appropriate Corps Officers and staff in their area.
  • Maintains personal responsibility for 75 – 150 existing life income donors.
  • Maintains annual stewardship for all living bequest donors within your area.
  • Maintains and builds relationships with professionals such as CPAs, CFPs, and Attorneys.
  • Collaborates with Corps Officers, Donor Relations Directors (Major Gifts) and Development staff to provide donors with exceptional service and collaborate with site/donor visits.
  • Achieves minimum work product metrics as identified by the Sr. Gift Planning Leadership team.
  • Makes a minimum of five (5) strategic/substantive face-to-face visits per month (donor, prospect, or advisor visits).
  • Creates and presents a minimum of two (2) gift planning proposals per week.
  • Meets with all Corps Officers a minimum of two (2) times per year.
  • Schedules one (1) joint DRD – donor meeting per month.
  • Schedules one (1) joint Corps Officer – donor meeting per quarter.
  • Identifies or closes twenty-four (24) plus gifts per year valued between $2.5M-$5M (Year 1).
  • Identifies or closes fifty (50) plus gifts per year valued between $5M-$10M (Year 2+).
  • Promotes, organizes, and participates in a minimum of (1) donor or advisor seminar per year.
  • Reports all communication activities in our CRM and report all gift production in the Gift Report module.
  • Completes and updates a multi-channel Forecast and Marketing Plan (FMP) annually based on the template provided by Territorial Headquarters.
  • Annually submits your FMP to the THQ GP Office for integration into the THQ GP marketing budget.
  • Personally manages or utilizes staff assistance to operate your marketing activities throughout the year based on your FMP.
