More about our team The Division Director of Clinical Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of clinical treatment programs across multiple inpatient and outpatient behavioral health hospitals within the division. This position ensures that high-quality, evidence-based clinical care is consistently delivered, compliant with all regulatory and accreditation standards, and aligned with Lifepoint Behavioral Health’s mission and strategic objectives. The Division Director is responsible for clinical program development, patient experience, employee engagement, quality performance outcomes, and the integration of clinical services within each facility. This position collaborates closely with hospital CEOs, Director of Clinical Services, and the corporate Clinical Operations leadership team to support system-wide consistency, regulatory readiness, and operational excellence. The Division Director of Clinical Operations is accountable for divisional performance related to clinical quality, compliance, patient outcomes, expense management, and growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Recreational Therapy or related behavioral health discipline from an accredited institution required with 7 years of progressive clinical leadership experience in behavioral health or psychiatric hospital settings, with at least 3 years in a multi-site or regional leadership role
  • Demonstrated expertise in program development, clinical operations, and regulatory compliance (TJC, CMS, state licensing).
  • Proven record of success in driving quality improvement, employee engagement, and patient satisfaction outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health treatment models, evidence-based practices, and trauma-informed care.
  • Active licensure in a clinical discipline (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC) is required.
  • CPR certification within 30 days of employment required.
  • De-escalation certification within 30 days of employment required.
  • You must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for clinical operations across multiple behavioral health hospitals within the division.
  • Partner with hospital CEOs, Director of Clinical Services, and interdisciplinary leaders to ensure delivery of consistent, high-quality, evidence-based treatment.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs, ensuring alignment with system standards and community needs.
  • Monitor divisional performance indicators, including clinical quality, compliance, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Support facility-level leaders in corrective action planning and process improvement initiatives based on data and survey findings.
  • Ensure clinical departments maintain readiness for TJC, CMS, and state surveys through proactive audit and education processes.
  • Collaborate with Utilization Review and Business Office teams to ensure appropriate documentation and reimbursement for clinical services.
  • Lead and mentor facility clinical leadership teams in performance management, recruitment, onboarding, and development.
  • Facilitate regular divisional meetings and provide ongoing communication of key updates, trends, and best practices.
  • Promote innovation and evidence-based care models that enhance treatment effectiveness and patient engagement.
  • Collaborate with corporate and divisional peers in nursing, quality, compliance, and medical affairs to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
  • Identify and disseminate clinical best practices to standardize care delivery across facilities.
  • Support divisional and facility leadership during new program openings, service expansions, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Participate in patient complaint resolution, sentinel event review, and clinical risk management as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends in behavioral healthcare, regulatory requirements, and best practices to inform strategic planning.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Clinical Operations.
