The MGC’s Financial Investigations Division performs financial background reviews of individuals and companies seeking licensure under the gaming and sports wagering regulatory environment, in accordance with Massachusetts laws and regulations. Team members review, verify, and analyze financial documents and information such as: tax returns, net worth, financial statements, financial ratios, filings submitted to regulatory agencies such as the SEC, debt-related documents, ledgers and related operational records, and contracts. Team members also conduct interviews of applicants as part of the background review process. The division staff perform these reviews as part of suitability evaluations for financial integrity, financial stability, and financial background. Under the direction of the Director of the Investigations & Enforcement Bureau, the Division Chief of Financial Investigations is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Financial Investigations Division, including providing leadership and guidance for division staff.
