About The Position

Division Chief Compliance Officer Reporting to the President & Chief Operating Officer, the General Counsel - Chief Compliance Officer (“General Counsel”) will be an integral contributing member of the Concorde executive management team and will oversee the general legal, compliance and regulatory affairs for the company. General Counsel at Concorde provides services to approximately 1,700 employees in 17 locations in 9 States. Requirements

  • Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as General or Associate General Counsel.
  • Knowledge of statues, rules and regulations pertaining to businesses.
  • Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality.
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in a large and multi-site setting, characterized by a high level of service and a culture of accountability, preferably in an education or healthcare service organization.
  • Must have a strong customer focus and be able to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence and confidence.
  • Natural self-starter, decisive, high energy and a can-do attitude.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards.
  • Able and willing to: Communicate, think, learn, and reason
  • Use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to process transactions, store documents, enter data, or perform assigned tasks

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs all aspects of an organization's legal, compliance and regulatory affairs and ensures all business policies and activities are managed correctly and in compliance with current laws.
  • Reviews changes to law and regulations and advises management about any impact to the business.
  • Plans and directs programs, policies, and practices to ensure that all business units' activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to management on business transactions and initiatives.
  • Leads the defense of the organization in lawsuits and the prosecution of lawsuits on behalf of the organization against others.
  • Ensures that all company communications, contracts, documents, filings and press releases undergo a legal review.
  • May engage and coordinate with outside counsel for certain matters.
  • Handles the organization’s legal matters and provides insights regarding federal and state regulatory guidance, government relations, and accreditation standards.
  • Advising executive, senior management and board on various matters such as legal rights, and new and existing laws.
  • Liaison between regulatory agencies and the company.
  • Accountable for the accreditation process.
  • Maintaining knowledge of organization’s operations and legal documents.
  • Conducting legal research and reviewing company's litigation strategy pertaining to legal actions.
  • Preserving all corporate records.
  • Handling statutory filings, such as licensing forms.
  • Liaising with outside counsel regarding their assignments
  • Oversee Title IV compliance.
  • Direct and monitor campus default management and resulting cohort default rates
  • Oversee Title IV fiscal reporting completed at Home Office on behalf of each OPE ID number
  • Oversee applicable campus compliance with state regulated financial aid programs
  • Monitor and review reporting to accrediting bodies, state licensing agencies and U.S. Department of Education completed by each campus and Campus Support Center
  • Remain current on Title IV regulations, accrediting standards (institutional and programmatic) and state licensing requirements to ensure Concorde’s regulatory compliance
  • Actively participate in state, regional and national trade organizations to enhance public image of Concorde
  • Travel as required
