About The Position

United Contractor Services is a national subcontractor specializing in commercial light gauge interior buildouts and Division 8 & 10 Specialties. We're known for precision, reliability, and strong partnerships with general contractors and architects across large-scale projects nationwide. We're growing and seeking a Division 8 (Doors, Frames & Hardware) Estimator to join our preconstruction team. The Role As a Division 8 Estimator, you'll prepare detailed, code-compliant estimates for commercial door, frame, and hardware packages. You'll collaborate with GC partners, vendors, and internal teams to develop competitive pricing, clarify scope, and support smooth project handoff after award. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diving into hardware sets and specifications and understands the critical role Division 8 assemblies play in overall project success.

Requirements

3+ years estimating commercial doors, frames, and hardware
Strong knowledge of hollow metal and wood door assemblies, frame types, anchors, fire-rated applications, and finish hardware (mortise, cylindrical, exit devices, closers, electrified hardware)
Experience with hardware sets, keying systems, and code-driven requirements (UL, ADA, life safety)
Detail-oriented with clean, accurate takeoffs
Strong communicator comfortable in a fast-paced bid environment

Responsibilities

Prepare estimates for hollow metal doors/frames, wood doors, finish hardware, and accessories
Review drawings, specs, door/hardware schedules, elevations, and hardware sets
Perform accurate quantity takeoffs
Analyze UL ratings, fire codes, ADA, life safety, and compliance requirements
Solicit and compare vendor pricing
Identify value-engineering opportunities
Prepare clear proposals with defined scope and assumptions
Coordinate with Project Managers during turnover
Maintain strong supplier and GC relationships
Stay current on Division 8 products and code updates
