Woodland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Instructional Assistant for the Diverse Support Program at Woodland Middle School. This full-time position is designed to assist the superintendent in achieving the mission of Woodland Public Schools, which is to ensure that all students, particularly those with diverse needs, achieve literacy and core competencies in a nurturing environment. The role is crucial in supporting students with significant developmental and social-emotional delays, and it requires working closely under the direction of the principal and special education teachers. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instructional assistance, monitoring student progress, and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities. The position involves a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and requires excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively as part of an educational team. The Instructional Assistant will engage with students in various educational activities, including academic subjects, life skills, and social skills training. Responsibilities include assisting with self-regulation during class activities, providing mainstream support, and implementing behavior management plans. The role also requires the ability to communicate effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and to adapt to the needs of students with varying disabilities. The position demands flexibility in tasks and schedules, as well as the ability to lift and physically assist students when necessary. Regular attendance and participation in training meetings are essential to broaden expertise in working with students with special needs. The position is expected to start as soon as possible, with hours determined by the school bell schedule and student needs.
