About The Position
The Dive Safety Officer (DSO) will work with all staff, including department heads, within the organization and a diverse team of volunteer divers, in the implementation of overall CMA dive and safety procedures to establish and enforce guidelines to ensure safety throughout the facility for all diving activities including diving outside of the facility. The DSO will possess a broad knowledge base in all aspects of OSHA requirements for safe diving protocols at CMA and outside of CMA. The incumbent will oversee CMAs Hurricane Preparedness Policy. The incumbent will also work with Manager of Dive Operations across departmental lines to develop and execute safety initiatives to include drills such as first aid, AED use, oxygen administration, fire drills, diver extraction, and other safety scenarios as workload necessitates. The DSO will display a high level of professional leadership and personal conduct, energy and enthusiasm, requiring limited oversight. They will also show great risk management and risk assessment skills, deductive reasoning and critical thinking.
