About The Position

The District Wide Special Education Paraeducator position at McCarthy Middle School involves supporting students with special educational needs under the direction of classroom teachers. The role includes assisting in the implementation of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, providing support for educational, social-emotional, and behavioral development, and helping with physical and health needs of the children. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• For Title 1 Schools, Highly Qualified Status is required, which includes either an Associate's Degree or an equivalent two years of college, a Bachelor's degree, or Paraeducator II certification from the NH Dept of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation and reinforcement of the instructional curriculum under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Help prepare and administer testing.
• Provide input to teachers, guidance counselors, and school administration regarding student performance.
• Assist with the implementation of IEP goals and objectives.
• Support students' social-emotional and behavioral development.
• Assist with fine and gross motor skills to foster independence.
• Help with physical and minimal health needs of the children, including lifting, feeding, toileting/diapering, and personal hygiene.
