Performs entry-level transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor. Essential Duties: District Sign Technician I: · Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditions. · Measures and calculates amount of materials needed. · Mixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties. · Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs. · Performs and maintains inventory of signs. · Repairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance. · Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. District Sign Technician II: · Inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairs. · Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditions. · Measures and calculates amount of materials needed. · Mixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties. · Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs. · Performs and maintains inventory of signs. · Repairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control · Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance. · Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. District Sign Technician IV: · Coordinates and conducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflective pavement markers (RPMs) · Coordinates and inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairs. · Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergency situations/conditions. · Measures and calculates amount of materials needed. · Mixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these duties. · Operates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signs. · Repairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance. · Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
