About The Position

The District Sales Manager (DSM) role is focused on managing and enhancing sales performance among Sales Consultants (SCs) within the district. This position emphasizes coaching, talent development, and driving a performance culture to achieve profitable growth in case and gross profit (GP).

Requirements

  • High School education required; Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant industry experience preferred.
  • 2 or more years' experience successfully growing profitable sales in the foodservice industry.
  • 5+ years' foodservice sales experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to derive insights through probing questions and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Superb organizational and project management skills, capable of executing multiple initiatives autonomously.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Proficient in using Sysco's proprietary Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool for planning and forecasting sales growth.
  • Demonstrates mastery in consultative selling, marketing principles, prospecting, networking, coaching, and negotiations.
  • Effectively coaches, counsels, trains, and directs associates.

  • Familiarity with market trends and product innovations in the foodservice sector.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the performance and development of Sales Consultants (SCs) within the district.
  • Engages in one-on-one coaching and direction by conducting an average of 3-5 SC work-withs a week.
  • Leads and facilitates Friday district meetings to educate and inspire SCs, driving key behavior changes to enhance sales.
  • Directs Customer Engagement efforts, enabling SCs to provide expanded service channel options to Sysco customers.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mentality around technology, sales skills, soft skills, and product knowledge.
  • Leverages Sales Support resources and tools to maximize SCs' consultative time.
  • Utilizes CRM for managing SC's sales planning, prospecting, and daily customer engagement, ensuring productive use of Sysco 360.
  • Delivers Sysco brand results and manages conversion opportunities within the district.
  • Supports and promotes all national campaigns and promotions.
  • Provides coaching, training, and timely feedback to develop consultative selling skills of sales associates.
  • Utilizes CMP and QPP Processes to coach performance of all sales colleagues in the district.
  • Executes territory planning and management, prioritizing relationships with top customers and high-value prospects.
  • Champions company initiatives and implements center-led strategy within the district.
  • Handles additional sales management responsibilities, including operational duties and customer relationship management.
