About The Position

The Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a District Program Services Manager for District Five. This position is part of the Selected Exempt Service and is only open to current Department of Transportation employees. The role involves supervising and directing the daily activities of the Program Services Unit, managing project schedules, and ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members. The successful candidate will contribute to a culture of trust, respect, and empowerment within the agency.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the concepts, terminology, and development process of transportation projects.
  • Knowledge of project engineering, scheduling, and management.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Skills in coordinating the scheduling of projects in the Department's Work Program.
  • Ability to independently research, plan, coordinate, and complete technical assignments.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the overall daily activities of the Program Services Unit.
  • Oversee the development of production schedules with department managers and project managers.
  • Plan workloads, workflows, deadlines, objectives, and time utilization with employees.
  • Evaluate, train, and motivate subordinate employees to improve work quality and quantity.
  • Manage activities associated with tracking and maintaining project schedules.
  • Initiate measures to ensure production goals are established and managed.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of Primavera logic-based templates and schedules.
  • Train and support District staff regarding scheduling tools.
  • Implement and maintain a quality control element within the District Scheduling system.
  • Oversee pre-construction activities associated with project scheduling.
  • Conduct regular meetings with subordinates to maintain project schedules.
  • Oversee Production Management for the District.
  • Serve as the liaison between the District and Central Office regarding production commitments.
  • Oversee the consistent implementation and use of project controls.
  • Coordinate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) functionality and web applications.
  • Assist with programming and business decisions related to Department funded programs.
  • Oversee the coordination and project control of the District's General Engineering Consultant services.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the Office's business plan.
