District PEIMS Specialist

About The Position

Primary Purpose: To assist PEIMS Coordinator with planning, organization, scheduling, and management of routine work activities associated with PEIMS data collections. Will provide training/orientation to new campus clerks and will also be involved in maintaining updated standards and support staff for all PEIMS clerks. Qualifications: Education/Certification: 2 years of PEIMS experience REQUIRED High school or GED Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data. Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records. Ability to use, analyze and maintain PEIMS software program and input data (Ascender). Ability to use personal computer and various software packages to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing documents. This includes Google Drive, Adobe, and OnDataSuite. Effective critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Must be able to multi-task, meet continuous deadlines, and be detail oriented. Experience: Major Responsibilities and Duties: Will work closely with PEIMS Coordinator to assist with submission of complete and accurate data in Texas Education Agency (TEA) prescribed format to education service center (ESC) for processing using computer terminal or personal computer. Communicates with campuses and staff to answer questions to explain processes and procedures. Verifies data and manages data input throughout the year from the campuses and staff to minimize the errors during the PEIMS reporting cycles. Training new employees on PEIMS reporting and processes in Ascender student software, Ascender Teacher and Parent Portals and TREx. Assist with developing training materials for the student data systems. Will audit campuses to verify daily attendance reports and 6 weeks reports are accurate and properly documented. Attends workshops, conferences approved by supervisor to remain current in job responsibilities and student processes and procedures. Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adherent to all policies set for by the district for records maintenance. Assists with producing reports, labels, and files for student grades, attendance, discipline, special population, and other student services as necessary. Troubleshoot Ascender issues and errors in student data. Provide high level of customer service to personnel on campuses throughout the district, including campus administrators. Will fulfill Parchment requests for alumni, including reprints of diplomas and graduation verification. Enrollment verification as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
