As we continue to expand and enrich our team, we are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources & Finance Team. Position Overview: The Payroll Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of a monthly payroll for approximately 850 employees within the school district. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of payroll processes. The successful candidate will collaborate with various departments to gather and input payroll data accurately, address employee inquiries, and stay updated on relevant payroll laws and regulations. Skyward & Qmlativ experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in using payroll software and Google/Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone and in person.
  • Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions and review and prepare documents and file them in a prescribed order, and organize documents and materials.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Sit for extended periods of time.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • General Payroll Processing duties.
  • Collect, verify, and process payroll data for all employees.
  • Ensure accurate and timely distribution of paychecks and direct deposits.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues promptly.
  • Reconcile all payroll payables and process payments to payroll vendors
  • Stay informed on federal and state payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with district policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports as required.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to obtain necessary payroll information.
  • Address employee inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
  • Prepare reports for management as needed.
  • Prepare and submit monthly transmittals to PERSI for retirement processing.
  • Report and track workman's compensation claims.
  • Utilize payroll software and systems efficiently.
  • Participate in system upgrades and enhancements as necessary.
