About The Position

We are seeking a strategic and community-rooted District Organizing Lead who genuinely enjoys grassroots organizing and the day-to-day work of being in community. The ideal candidate is energized by deep, site-based engagement and understands how to build trust, develop local leadership, and strengthen organizing ecosystems across diverse neighborhoods. This person thrives in hands-on field environments, has strong political instincts, and brings a steady commitment to long-term, community-centered work. In this role, the District Lead will manage a team of organizers and anchor the district’s organizing plan by coordinating partners, aligning strategy, and driving the field work that informs our messaging and execution. They will cultivate partnerships with trusted community organizations, run district-level tables, oversee training and skill-building, lead site-based persuasion and issue education efforts, and help expand voter engagement and registration. Success in this role requires someone who can hold the big picture while staying grounded in on-the-ground grassroots work, ensuring each district builds durable, connected infrastructure that lasts beyond the election.

Requirements

  • At least two complete cycles of campaign experience, or three to six years of community-based organizing work.
  • Experience managing organizers, volunteers, or field teams in a campaign, advocacy, or community-focused environment.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain relationships with diverse partners, community groups, and local leaders.
  • Strong commitment to grassroots organizing and comfort working directly in community settings.
  • Solid understanding of field organizing fundamentals, including voter engagement, partner coordination, and accurate reporting.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to facilitate group discussions and lead collaborative planning.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and keep teams aligned.
  • Proven ability to work within a large team to meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for iterative learning, message testing, and district-specific experimentation.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in fast-moving political and community environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in New York State and familiarity with its political and community landscape.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, or other prominent district language
  • Understanding of campaign compliance related to field activities, data, and partnerships.
  • Experience coordinating with communications or digital teams to elevate district stories and insights.
  • Location: New York State based. Preference for individuals living in Hudson Valley and Long Island.
  • Ability to travel within the target region as needed.

Responsibilities

  • District Leadership
  • Lead district-based meetings, work sessions, and coalition tables that drive alignment and shared accountability.
  • Manage coalitions within each district to coordinate district organizing plans and keep partners aligned on strategy, targets, and timelines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, local leaders, and coalition partners.
  • Work with local partners to feed volunteer pipelines and strengthen organizing infrastructure within the district.
  • Support the development of district-specific issue education campaigns in collaboration with partners and the Communications Hub.
  • Field Organizing
  • Manage and support a team of organizers to execute district-level field work and community engagement.
  • Oversee training, onboarding, and skill-building support for organizers, volunteers, and partner groups.
  • Guide site-based persuasion efforts and message exploration across high-traffic community spaces and local institutions.
  • Coordinate and support district-level voter registration drives and community outreach efforts.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, documentation, and reporting of district learnings and community sentiment.
