Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of analyzing financial data and working within various financial software and programs, and ability to interpret and apply complex regulations
  • Experience in related area, equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training that demonstrates desired knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
  • Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Effective training skills for working with diverse school staff.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to complete computational tasks.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, utilize EXCEL and various software programs.

  • Ability to operate computer equipment for email communications, database and financial software programs, word processing, data management, and other assigned tasks as related to the position.

  • Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  • Ability to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
  • Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for knowing and maintaining all compliance requirements for the Arizona Medicaid School-Based Claiming Program.
  • Serve as the district's primary point of contact for all Medicaid program activities. District liaison with state Medicaid agencies to ensure compliance with federal and state Medicaid regulations.
  • Manage the Medicaid billing reimbursement program to ensure all daily, monthly, quarterly and annual requirements, processes and procedures are completed and within compliance regulations.
  • Complete all quarterly and annual Medicaid financial reports for both direct and administrative claims within required timelines and aligned with all process and regulations.
  • Monitor reimbursements and support special education staff in accurately documenting, submitting, and maintaining service records for eligible students, with the goal of securing maximum reimbursement.
  • Ensure service logs, progress notes, and provider credentials meet Medicaid documentation standards.
  • Review IEPs and program documentation to ensure compliance with Medicaid requirements and billing requirements.
  • Coordinate training activities between Medicaid agencies and district staff or provide training to district personnel in Medicaid billing, requirements and regulations.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of state Medicaid rules, billing requirements, documentation and allowable services.
  • Maintain internal procedure manuals, documentation, checklists, or guidelines as necessary. Update training materials as needed.
  • Assist staff in obtaining their AHCCCS and NPI required provider registration aligned with procedures and protocols. Maintain all applicable records within regulations and retention to ensure program compliance.
  • Organize files, maintain Medicaid related information for district, and audit purposes.
  • Work closely with local, state, and federal auditors to provide all applicable materials.
  • Work closely with case managers for parental completion of Medicaid related documentation and forms.
  • Maintain all required documentation and records as aligned with Medicaid regulations and retention.
  • Interface with federal, state, local, and private agencies to obtain information about eligible students as applicable.
