About The Position

The District Manager maintains a strong, visible presence across all locations within the assigned district and provides leadership to multiple convenience store units. This role ensures operational excellence, maximizes sales and profitability, and upholds company standards in all facets of business operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in multi-unit retail operations; convenience store experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • Must successfully complete alcohol and tobacco compliance training.
  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Proficient in basic math, reading, and writing communication.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Responsible, dependable, and open to change.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve financial goals, including sales targets, controllable costs, and overall operating profit for the district.
  • Ensure execution of systems and procedures to manage inventory, control shrink, and reduce expenses.
  • Set and monitor short- and long-term sales goals; develop and implement action plans to meet revenue projections.
  • Hold store management accountable for cost control, inventory accuracy, and compliance with company procedures.
  • Audit pricing, promotions, voids, and waste at each location; identify trends and address concerns proactively.
  • Investigate and take corrective action to reduce losses from theft or accounting errors.
  • Maintain performance targets for shrink, labor, supplies, cash handling, and lottery sales.
  • Enforce adherence to labor budgets tailored to each store’s sales and historical trends.
  • Submit and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to meet sales goals, enhance inventory turnover, and execute store-level programs.
  • Train and hold store accountable for executing product launch plans and maintaining promotional item availability.
  • Motivate store teams to drive sales through programs, promotions, and community involvement.
  • Ensure compliance with planograms and merchandising standards to support brand image.
  • Oversee promotional execution and in-store displays to align with brand standards.
  • Maintain consistency in promotional materials and ensure company branding is upheld across all locations.
  • Cultivate relationships within local communities to strengthen brand presence and reputation.
  • Conduct competitive market analyses and share insights with executive leadership.
  • Communicate with honesty, integrity, and transparency across all levels of staff and management.
  • Share relevant business updates and initiatives with field teams regularly.
  • Foster trust and follow-through with open, two-way communication.
  • Host monthly meetings with store managers to review performance and initiatives.
  • Assist with hiring, as needed, for management and store-level positions.
  • Validate store rosters weekly to prevent unauthorized employee listings and maintain system security.
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure fair, consistent, and documented disciplinary procedures.
  • Monitor and support the professional development of store managers through coaching and performance feedback.
  • Conduct timely performance evaluations and ensure reviews are completed by company guidelines.
  • Promote a positive, motivating work environment; serve as a role model for store teams.
  • Prioritize employee retention by offering growth opportunities and development plans.
  • Recognize and reward strong performance and contributions toward company goals.
  • Uphold fair and consistent enforcement of policies and procedures across all locations.
  • Build strong relationships and act as a mentor to managers and staff.
  • Lead by example: greeting customers warmly and foster a friendly store atmosphere.
  • Coach staff on handling customer concerns professionally and providing excellent service.
  • Enforce compliance with laws related to alcohol and tobacco sales.
  • Respond to customer complaints within 24 hours and investigate thoroughly.
  • Conduct weekly store walks to ensure cleanliness, compliance, and high service standards.
  • Lead with a hands-on management approach, urgency, and purpose.
  • Perform at least one PM inspection per location monthly.
  • Complete and submit daily store visit checklists focused on key performance areas.
  • Monitor and report on competitor activity as needed.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in decision-making.
  • Enforce completion of shift checklists, cleaning schedules, and store walks.
  • Ensure aisles and walkways comply with ADA Title III standards.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety and security protocols.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accurate sales reporting for all product categories.
  • Ensure all staff follow safe and sanitary food handling practices.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical conduct; adhere to work rules and company expectations.
  • Enforce policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and training materials.
  • Ensure team awareness of safety, robbery prevention, and emergency protocols.
  • Monitor uniform and personal hygiene compliance across all locations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely timekeeping and attendance reporting.
  • Seek approval from the Director of Operations before committing to unauthorized vendors or purchases.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information, report policy violations or misconduct promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll, state/federal labor laws, and documentation requirements.
  • Coordinate all employee terminations with Human Resources and review necessary documentation in advance.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure preventative maintenance programs are implemented.
  • Promptly report safety hazards, equipment issues, and maintenance concerns to the Director of Operations.
  • Enforce cleanliness standards and hold store managers accountable for deficiencies.
