We are seeking a District Sales Manager to lead Kemira’s business selling and servicing pulp & paper mills in the Midwest District including the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and portions of Michigan and New York. This role will plan, develop, direct, and monitor the results of a sales team (s) within a specified geography, product line, or market segment to achieve sales and profitability targets. The role will report to the Director, Sales, P&HS, North Region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree level in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science or related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in the pulp & paper industry in chemical sales
  • Leader in using data analysis to create compelling sales cases and sales reports
  • Ideally has experience leading a group of Sales Professionals

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales plans, activities, and campaigns (including customer pricing) and manage the operational activities of a sales and service sales team for an assigned geography, product line, market segment, or particular customers.
  • Adhere to Strategic Selling and Best Practice principles including use of business reviews and plans.
  • Negotiate sales with customers who are of strategic importance to the organization including growth market areas such as molded fiber customers.
  • Manage new customer and market development for the district.
  • Be well versed with and manage district profitability according to Kemira P&HS objectives, including the direct selling expenses associated with supporting the customer base and the changing landscape of raw material costs and availability.
  • Contribute to the development of sales offerings, customer retention, pricing, and distribution strategies for area of responsibility through provision of market intelligence and customer information
  • Prepare product sales and service sales forecasts and budgets; monitor sales volume, revenues, and costs against forecasts to identify problem areas; and adapt procedures or re-allocate resources to improve the overall performance of the district and sales team.
  • Drive the demand forecasting process in collaboration with supply chain.
  • By understanding market trends, coach sales and service sales representatives on the operational aspects of the organization's products and services, internal procedures, sales promotions, sales techniques, procedures and standards that will help them achieve their sales targets.
