About The Position

As a Retail District Manager, you will lead operational excellence across multiple business units, driving sales performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction. You’ll oversee district-level pricing strategies, promotional activities, and market evaluations while ensuring compliance with corporate standards. You’ll be responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent, fostering a culture of openness, feedback, and continuous improvement. Acting as a key liaison between stores and corporate functions, you’ll ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives across Human Resources, Marketing, Operations, and more.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred. In place of a degree, two years of related experience and training is interchangeable for one year of education.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive responsibility in a management role, being in charge of a district, region, territory, or zone; managing and coaching associates to success and responsible for attaining sales and profit goals.
  • 1 year sales experience in the tire industry.
  • Past experience of managing other people.
  • Past experience using team-based managing & Total Quality Culture (TQC) skills.
  • Recruiting, hiring & training experience.
  • Managed 2 or more business units with P&L or budget responsibility (e.g., retail store, CTSC, manufacturing business center, or wholesale tire center).

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership – Drive results through the guidance and leadership of the district to achieve or exceed AOP. Monitor and measure execution of key processes identified by the Akron Leadership team. Provide direction to ensure that liability, safety, customer satisfaction, audits, housekeeping, and inventory are improved upon and managed within guidelines. Meet district sales objectives. Evaluate market conditions and monitor competitor pricing. Set district pricing within allowed parameters, giving stores the necessary latitude, and monitor store-level pricing. Monitor promotional and advertising activities and events, as well as the neighborhood solicitation program in each store of responsibility.
  • Associate Management and Development – Responsible for identifying talent, hiring, and developing talent including succession planning. Manage staffing in accordance with AOP and trends. Constantly recruit to build a network for bench strength. Train associates as needed. Lead recruitment and retention efforts, establish feedback systems, and serve as a role model for openness and accessibility.
  • Communication – Translate, communicate, and drive organizational, regional, and district messages to ensure execution at the store level. Act as a liaison between stores and Retail Management on areas such as Human Resources, Advertising, Marketing, Operations, Real Estate, Finance, and market activities.
