About The Position

The position involves advanced administrative, technical, and professional duties under the direction of the Clerk of the District Court. The incumbent is responsible for processing court filings, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with various regulations while providing customer service and support to the public and legal professionals.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies, criminal justice, political science, history, records management, business or public administration required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant or in an administrative support position in the justice field required.
  • Two years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting required.
  • One year of face-to-face customer service experience required.
  • Two years of MS Office experience required.
  • Typing speed of 40 net words per minute required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a legal environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of court procedures and regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive filings and review documents for acceptability according to requirements.
  • Assist customers with payments and notify appropriate departments.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Comply with Civil Service policies and regulations to create a respectful work environment.
  • Collaborate with internal workgroups to facilitate workflows and counter coverages.
  • Process various documents according to established policies, including e-filings and IRS 1099 forms.
  • Issue and maintain agency records ensuring proper receipt by requesters.
  • Enter transcript of judgment cases data into the case management system.
  • Accept, review, examine, code, and process cases and court filings, notifying parties of needed corrections.
  • Monitor the e-filing system and take appropriate actions based on department policies.
  • Issue civil, criminal, and juvenile writs and process authenticated copies of court orders.
  • Review and maintain calendars for judges' availability and prepare dockets for court.
  • Compile and record financial transaction data utilizing standard bookkeeping principles.
  • Process search warrants and maintain public record requests and unclaimed property.
  • Calculate and accept various court-related payments and assist with child support documentation.
