About The Position

This position acts as the assisting cashier for the collection of funds for District Court.

Requirements

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g., data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must obtain certification in the Arkansas District & City Court Clerk's Association within 3 years of employment date. Class time is required. Overnight stay to attend classes and seminars may occur. Also, any other classes/seminars that the Judge or District Chief Court Clerk deem necessary to the operation of the District Court will be required.
  • Regular contacts with patrons, either within the office or in the field. May also involve occasional self-initiated contacts to patrons. Lack of tact and judgment may result in a limited type of problem for the organization.
  • Contacts of considerable importance within the department or office, such as those required in coordination of effort, or frequent contacts with other departments or offices, generally in normal course of performing duties. Requires tact in discussing problems and presenting data and making recommendations, but responsibility for action and decision reverts to others.
  • Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, etc.)
  • Semi-repetitive, low physical. Semi-repetitive type work which requires periods of concentration for varied time cycles as prescribed by the tasks.
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist defendants before and after court.
  • Lifts drivers licenses.
  • Performs all of the record search requests for the court.
  • Serves as backup for the probation officer position to set time pay accounts up during court proceedings.
  • Maintain understanding of Arkansas laws, regulation and legal terms.
  • Serve as a backup for the other Deputy Clerk, Small Claims and Collections positions.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Benefits

  • This position is scheduled to work Monday/Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM with paid holidays off.
  • Bilingual pay of $2,080 is available once proficiency has been established.

  • For employee retirement, the County contributes 15.32% per pay period of the employee’s gross towards the employee’s retirement through the Arkansas Public Employees’ Retirement System.
