About The Position

The District Chef I for K12 Food Service at St. Louis School District is responsible for overseeing all culinary functions across multiple campuses. This role focuses on enhancing the dining experience for students by ensuring high-quality food service, safety, and sanitation standards. The District Chef will lead a team of chefs, drive culinary innovation, manage costs, and implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the marketing and culinary teams.

Requirements

• Culinary degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years of culinary management experience required.
• At least two years of multi-site culinary management experience required.
• High volume production and catering experience essential.
• Previous experience managing cost controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee culinary production and operations for multiple campuses in the school district.
• Teach, train, and mentor chefs to improve their skills and performance.
• Drive innovation in culinary offerings across all accounts.
• Manage cost controls and expenditures for the culinary operations.
• Plan and create menus in collaboration with chefs.
• Guide chefs on purchasing and inventory management.
• Enhance the skill level of chefs in the region through training and support.
• Roll out new culinary programs in partnership with the marketing and culinary teams.
• Develop and communicate strategies to improve customer experience.
• Provide training programs to ensure consistent, high-quality food.
