Under limited supervision, provides expert level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. May also serve as a lead worker providing training to lower level staff. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Manages and coordinates the maintenance and/or construction activities of an area. Oversees the plans, designs, costs, and coordinates new transportation construction and/or maintenance activities in the absence of the Area Manager. Reviews technical documents and plans; able to supervise work of contractors and DOT personnel to insure compliance with design specifications, engineering standards, and environmental regulations. Inspects the state route system for needed maintenance and repairs, and assigns work activities to appropriate crews. Coordinates emergency response efforts for situations affecting the state route system. Ensures the completion of required documents, forms and reports. Evaluates personnel performance and provides feedback and counseling for professional growth. Administers and promotes the agency's safety and preventive maintenance programs. Maintains a positive working relationship with the traveling public. Uses appropriate procurement procedures for materials, supplies, and resources needed for the day to day operation of and area. May also oversee and manage the operation and maintenance of rest area facilities.
