About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining adequate levels of medical supplies in the Central Supply Storeroom and Nursing Units. It involves issuing and distributing supplies and pooled patient care equipment to nursing units in a timely manner, while also demonstrating effective promotion of Sharp HealthCare's commitment to principles.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience with customer service and communicating professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining adequate levels of medical supplies in the Central Supply Storeroom and Nursing Units.
  • Issuing and distributing supplies and pooled patient care equipment to nursing units in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrating effective promotion of Sharp HealthCare's commitment to principles.
  • Acting as a liaison with department communicating delivery information.
  • Monitoring and recommending par level changes to Supply Distribution department leadership.
  • Working in coordination with the department leadership to facilitate product conversions and substitutions.
  • Ensuring accuracy of all information.
  • Regularly accepting responsibility for department activities and reporting all questionable matters to department leadership.
  • Participating in annual physical inventory.
  • Performing miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.

  • Utilizing proper telephone etiquette including promptly answering the phone, identifying oneself and the department, and displaying courtesy at all times.
  • Returning all calls promptly and relaying pertinent information.
  • Counting and restocking assigned supply carts, automated supply cabinets, crash carts and specialty carts.
  • Cleaning/decontaminating and redistributing Supply Distribution managed pooled medical equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Ensuring all chargeable items will have correct sticker if applicable.
  • Ensuring all products in assigned areas are organized and faced, with any necessary stock out or substitution notification posted and return/credit bin emptied.
  • Assisting with replenishment activities within the central storeroom including daily put away of order and ongoing restock from bulk overstock locations.
  • Processing requests for specialty rental equipment.
  • Taking phone and electronic orders and prioritizing urgent requests.
  • Prioritizing and completing tasks according to the needs of the department/hospital.
  • Checking package integrity and verifying expiration dates, removing and accounting for any items not meeting standard.
  • Ensuring data accuracy by documenting all inventory transactions in the Materials Management Information System.
  • Maintaining accuracy, thoroughness, neatness, clarity, and adherence to a high level of work.
  • Recommending process improvements.
  • Adhering to correct usage of proper body mechanics and material handling equipment and keeping an organized work environment.
  • Ensuring all equipment is in good working order, escalating to department leadership immediately any broken, unsafe, or nonfunctioning equipment.
  • Ensuring timely removal of corrugated cardboard.
  • Keeping department shelves organized, cleaning and dusting once a month, rotating stock and removing outdates.
  • Reallocating soon-to-expire product whenever possible to reduce waste.

  • This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement.
