About The Position

This role is responsible for performing operation and maintenance on enterprise distribution assets including, but not limited to fire hydrants, valves, valve boxes, water meters and meter boxes, hydrant and valve flushing, water service lines, and all other appurtenances related to the water distribution system. While adhering to safety protocols, this role combines mechanical, communication, and collaboration skills to deliver world-class service to H2O America customers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and/or 6 months of relevant professional experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain their Class D Water Distribution License within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Holds relevant certifications required for the team’s need or directed by management.
  • Proven mechanical abilities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to participate in physical activities including lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and working in awkward positions, as well as using heavy weight tools and materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to delivery of service by safely and efficiently performing repairs on distribution assets including mains, services, etc. within the required specifications.
  • Performs activities to maintain distribution assets including flushing mains, hydrant upkeep, valve exercising, service boxes, and others.
  • Installs assets and makes repairs on mains, hydrants, services, valves, and meters.
  • Performs customer service work including meter installations, valve operations, meter reading, investigative work, and other activities related to service delivery.
  • Performs call before you dig activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Performs connection and testing in compliance with State Department of Health.
  • Ensures assigned vehicle cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
  • This position is required to respond to urgent service delivery issues and must be able to work off-shift hours and weekends to perform maintenance, resolve problems related to the distribution system, or other urgent service delivery issues.
  • Adheres to learning, following and ensuring compliance with all company policies and safety rules. This includes rules and regulations in the Company Safety Manual, OSHA regulations and other state, federal, or governing body’s rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
