There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.

As a Distribution System Modeling & Analysis Engineer at The AES Corporation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy distribution. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and own the strategy for building out the distribution system using advanced tools such as CYME, GIS, and demand forecasting applications. You will participate in the creation of geo-referenced load forecasts utilizing LoadSEER or similar tools, which will support probabilistic load modeling efforts at the distribution level. This role requires a deep understanding of distribution system analysis, including seasonal assessments that analyze voltage, thermal conditions, and N-1 contingency reviews using CYME software and available datasets. In addition to leading distribution system analysis, you will perform power flow analysis and capacity reviews to identify potential system needs in relation to distribution criteria. This will involve defining mitigation projects for both short- and long-term system planning. You will also conduct various system analysis studies aimed at improving system efficiency, reliability, and quality of service to customers. These studies may include transformer loading assessments, volt-var optimization leveraging capacitors and regulators, short circuit analysis, recloser placement optimization, and load balance evaluations. Your role will also involve developing and preparing project documentation, including need statements, potential solutions, and one-line diagrams, based on the results of your system analyses. Future plans will be entered into Copper-leaf for capital planning. You will analyze and assess sophisticated Distributed Energy Resource (DER) distribution system interconnections, performing hosting capacity analysis, time-series power flow analysis, and protection device coordination studies using CYME and PSCAD. Moreover, you will own the development and maintenance of the DER interconnection portal, which serves as an information hub and process dashboard for DER interconnection requests and data. This includes providing engineering reviews of various DER interconnection applications and effectively communicating suggestions to upper management. You will coordinate distribution project development and integration activities with various departments, including Transmission Planning, Performance & Reliability, and Customer Service. Additionally, you will develop training materials for software applications and onboarding processes related to distribution modeling and analysis functions, and meet with internal and external customers to discuss distribution system plans.
