About The Position

Our goal is to showcase why Peet’s is the unique and special place it is - and give students like you an opportunity to learn about our culture, operations, decision making processes, and day-to-day business. The program will be primarily project-based work and day-to-day shadowing/mentorship. The Interns will fill their weeks shadowing core members of the team to learn how their department functions and supports Peet’s business while focusing efforts on completing their project. The day-to-day activities will vary depending on which department you will support. We anticipate offering a variety of engagement activities including, but not limited to: Roasting Plant Tour, Coffee Tasting, Tea 101, Career Coaching, and more. These engagement activities are set to occur every other week. The connections you make here will be connections for life – and help you transition to the working world after graduation. We look forward to hosting you at Peet’s! Based at our Distribution Center in Tracy, CA - we require all employees to work onsite 3 days per week. This is a part-time, paid internship at $25.00/hr and will require a ~30 hours/week commitment from June 8-August 7, 2026. What You Will Do: The Distribution Process Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to make an impact on the work on the warehouse floor. You will be given multiple projects, asked to solve problems, eliminate losses, collaborate, make decisions, and execute to produce results. You will build your own capabilities through hands-on experience and be provided mentorship and training.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Electrical Engineering, or Data Science).
  • Enrolled as a Junior or Senior, or a recent graduate.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or hands-on experience in Manufacturing or Distribution is a plus.
  • Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma principles (e.g., standard work, problem-solving methodologies) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP) or related certifications is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
  • Exposure to programming or technical tools such as SQL, AI, or Machine Learning is a plus.
  • Experience with tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Forms, or AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying, prioritizing, analyzing, and eliminating losses and inefficiencies.
  • Collaborating with technical experts, other functions, and other external partners to create the best solutions.
  • Creating learning programs and coaching and training associates
  • Creating and improving standards, tools, and processes to enable us to achieve the performance targets for the production line or value stream.
  • Leading the implementation of Capital Projects to eliminate a loss
