About The Position

The Distribution Operator completes various functions of distribution activities to complete supply chain requirements of the company and its customers. Essential Job Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential functions/duty satisfactorily. Operations Pulls orders and examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications, checking for correctness and accuracy of count (Perfect Order.) Operates forklift to load and unload trucks, move, convey, transport, or locate product within the facility, using electronic equipment, scanning bar coded product and locations. Clean and perform routine maintenance of forklifts daily. Operates various bar code-oriented equipment to complete assigned tasks within the facility. Using hand-held and tethered data collection devices, compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading, orders, or other distribution documents. Arranges all finished product and incoming materials in the warehouse in an orderly manner, according to warehouse location plan. Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and reports the damages and shortages to supervisor. Conducts inventory cycle counts as directed and assists in taking periodic physical inventory. Reports and repacks according to SOP’s any damage which occurs, including damage to the finished product, to the supervisor. Responsible for working scheduled hours to include Saturday and/or Sunday to support the shuttle of product/material between the DC and Production at Canal St (24/7.) Completes small package paperwork, as required, for UPS, FedEx, etc. performing computer data entry for small packages where applicable. Must maintain regular and consistent attendance. Additional duties as assigned. Safety Comply with the EHS Policy and applicable regulatory and company EHS rules and requirements. Prompt reporting of any unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental concerns to supervision. Resolving potential hazards swiftly, thereby ensuring a safe work environment for all employees. Attend scheduled EHS trainings. Actively assist the organization in achieving or surpassing EHS goals. Identify areas for improvement in EHS practices and recommend enhancements to contribute to our commitment to a safe work environment. Demonstrates safe work habits by adhering to general safety procedures, including correct techniques for lifting and bending, maintaining proper ergonomics, using equipment correctly, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ensures strict adherence to all safety procedures, including the enforcement of Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) procedures. Product Safety and Quality Follows FDA GMP’s regarding food contact packaging as it pertains to the employee. Practices good housekeeping including clutter-free work area and general cleaning. Follows product safety standards, follows IPC product defense standards, and complies with all SQF requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED); three years of experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to communicate on a one-on-one basis or in group situations, understand instructions, and follow SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have a working knowledge of bar code systems and applications in a distribution environment, utilizing shipping and receiving functionality.
  • Must have a working knowledge of bar code labeling and scanning options.
  • Must be able to operate both manual and automatic forklifts safely, as well as stretch wrap machines and other distribution equipment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, E-Mail, and small package shipping systems.
