About The Position

Distribution Mechanic The primary function of this role is to provide safe, reliable, cost-effective service for customers, and stakeholders. To ensure adherence to compliance related tasks, provide good customer service. This position requires the ability to gas weld, fusion of plastic pipe and fittings, drive heavy duty equipment i.e. [CDL license, crew truck and trailer, dump truck with dual wheel axle], clean shaven to utilize breathable air respirator equipment, respond to gas leak emergency orders, investigate, identify, resolve, mitigate, or process for resolution. This task requires at times, being the first responder to incidents and working with emergency responders for local agencies and other entities. At times working in potentially gaseous environments and wearing critical personal protective equipment. Duties include, and not limited to the following: Gas service lines and gas main line installations and repairs, gas leak investigation, pipe fitting, restoring service to natural gas appliances, assess gas appliance operation and perform safety checks, inform customers of findings and document notification, locating underground company facilities, using small tools, hand drills, hand digging, working in a confined space i.e. [attics, crawl spaces, excavations, constructions zones, rooftops, etc.] Working in residential, commercial, industrial settings, indoors, outdoors, 24 hours a day seven days a week, in all different weather conditions. The ability to respond to after-hours emergency callouts. Good communication skills with internal and external parties, computer, and technology use and higher than average level of proficiency in all areas. Must be able to demonstrate competencies in jobs tasks associated with this role. Employee must obtain certification as a Delivery Mechanic and be qualified in all Operator Qualification tasks. Education, Certifications/Licenses: Required: High School diploma or GED Valid Driver’s License and pass Company driving tests If no CDL, must obtain CDL license during probationary period Preferred: Welding experience, ability to work underground for long periods of time. Have a keen sense of smell, hearing, vision and color identification. Required to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation.
