About The Position

Individual will be responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of underground gas mains and services. This job entails physically demanding work including nearly continuous standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping throughout the entire shift. Responsibilities will include working in a crew of 2-3 individuals. Position Description: Individual will remove, repair, replace, and install various sizes and types of gas piping; investigate and repair gas odor complaints; operate various types of pavements breaking and road cutting equipment; and operate a backhoe and dump truck. The selected candidate must also perform walking leak surveys; perform underground utility mark outs; and perform drilling and tapping of various sizes and types of gas mains. Individual will be required during periods of trouble call assignment to make themselves available at their reporting base within approximately 30 minutes. Selected candidates will be subject to work shift work. Holding a Commercial Driver's License is preferred. Starting Rate of Pay: $31.32 per hour.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Two years of related experience is preferred for the helper level.
• Ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle and meet the physical and qualification requirements for a DOT Medical Card.
• Ability to wear a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus.
• Ability to perform excavation duties including the use of pavement breaker and shovels.
• Access to construction sites that are non-handicapped accessible.
• Ability to move and lift material weighing up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to perform on-call emergency response duties.
